White Christmas Bonnets

I've been dreaming of these - soft cotton velveteen on the outside in rich colors, and soft white fleece on the inside for extra warmth and softness, all tied up with a satin ribbon. Delightful!

Bunny Basher

I found this great book in the library last year with fun toys to sew (sorry, I'll post the name if I can track it down) and it had a pattern for mice skittles with a cat head ball and it made a great gift. I decided to try a variation on the theme and came up with this warren of bunnies and a head of lettuce:) Bowling with veggies is always a good time.

I've been saving this bit of turquoise blue wool from a friend for many years and finally went for it with the stripe - fun, playful, and cozy warm.

Impish

I think it's more fun to see the hats in motion so I coerced Rosie into modeling the Imp hat and the fingerless gloves I'm experimenting with!

Button Inspiration

Ah, buttons! I'm not a huge fan of the button hole part, but I do love buttons. I bought this lovely bag of goodies at the thrift store the other day and was reminded of beautiful button blankets and other costume pieces I've seen decorated with buttons....

Nurtured By Nature

Yep, I talked to the beautiful Holly at Nurtured By Nature and she is interested in carrying some of my winter hats. She sold the lighter ones this summer. Here is a taste of the stuff for her. I've had a few requests for the Jaunty hat in girly combos so here is a pink and sage version. Love that butterfly print with the chocolate brown!

Head stands

Thank you, Dave, for the great head stands you whipped up just in time for the Mom's Market. So simple - a base, dowel, and light bulb shade - but effective. I think hats read better on a "head" and kid mannequin heads aren't an everyday thrift store find. Now if only I could find a slightly smaller bulb shade...

Aprons and 3rd Arms

My friend Monica requested an apron for her son (he'd worn his cousins pink princess one all day and she thought he might like one of his own in a less Disneyfied print). I had such fun with this (and one for his little sister too, of course), that they have become my favorite go-to present for the over 3s. They are unique, personal, and can be mailed in a regular 5x7 envelope as an oversized letter for less than $2 - a real plus when shipping across the country!





The ribbon clips Dave calls 3rd Arms because they free up your own arms for other things. I made myself one when Rosie was tiny and it made any blanket into a secure nursing shield, or sun/wind/rain/snow protection when she was in the Bjorn or just my arms.
Super simple, super handy (pun intended)!

Eye -eee-ah!

Eye-eee-ah! That is kind of the sound an ewok makes and I always thought Rosielooked like one in her hat and long sox set last year. I was inspired by a hat she inherited, green sweater and a need to cover her ankles when going on long walks with her in her Bjorn. So I washed the sweater, cut it up and made super long sox to go right over her other footwear, and an eared and tassled toque to pull on to match based on the one I loved. It is fun to repurpose old sweaters and figure out how best to use the cuffs, collars, and sleeves to best advantage. I'm hoping to find some good 100% wool ones this year and play with felting a bit more. Ah, thrift stores!

Imp Hats

I was looking for a simple, playful, lightweight fleece style of hat that would cover the ears, neck and throat (see moms, we do listen) and sell at a lower price point than the more labour and fabric intensive styles. And after a bit of playing the Imp Hat was born. It could be made with 2 layers for more warmth, but for a quick fix for fall weather this is a super cute option.

Jaunty Hats

"Jaunty" hats are my favorite flexible hat. They can be worn by boys or girls and with the brim up or down, at an angle, or with the ear flaps tied on top a la Sherlock Holmes! With flannel or fleece lining to coordinate with the cord, wool, or linen outer layer and funky button detailing, these sold out. The neck/ear flaps are a new addition and I can't wait to make one big enough for me! It is fun to try how many ways you can play with one hat.

Winter Bonnets

Winter bonnets - cozy, comfy, and ready for fall. These babies are flannel lined versions of my summer favorite. The brim keeps out the snow glare, the back flap protects the neck, and the ears are snug and warm too! I made some with corduroy and others with wool on the outside, pretty flannel on the inside, and bits of pretty trim to wrap up the look. I still have the small blue one in stock, but the rest sold at the market. I'm happy, as always to do custom stuff. A cute red head girl wore the green one home - perfect!

Mom's Market Madness

Success! Little EGG debuted its new logo and the fall line at the Mom's Market on Sat and it was well received. Thanks to all of you who braved the wind and rain to support us. I've finally figured out my camera issues (I think) so I will post some product pictures!! Hurrah!

Fall Mom's Market

Mark your calendars! Oct 3rd from 10-3 the Downtown Activity Centre in Salmon Arm, BC will be a hot spot for cool new and used goods at the first Fall Mom's Market. Little EGG was at the spring version and it was a lot of fun. Come check out my selection of cool fall hats, find some great Christmas gifts (only a few short months away ALREADY!), and take part (if so inclined) in the Breastfeeding Challenge! This town has some amazing events for kids and the people who support and raise them and this is no exception.
